Mary Alice Reed
May 20, 1949 - October 1, 2024
Mary Alice Reed, beloved wife, mother, grandmother "GG" and friend, entered into eternal life peacefully on October 1, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on May 20, 1949, in Denver, Colorado, to Gardner and Ruth Brownell. Mary grew up in the Denver area, spending part of her childhood at The Queen of Heaven Orphanage in Lakewood. She was the oldest of five children. Mary graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967 and went on to attend beauty school, where she began her lifelong passion for cosmetology.
Mary was a skilled hairdresser for 38 years, known for her artistry and craftsmanship at Joslins and Dillard's, where she worked as a Master Artisan. Her clients were like family and she made many lifelong friends there and her creativity and care for her clients touched the lives of many throughout her career.
On April 25, 1970, Mary married the love of her life, Ronald Reed, and together they built a life and a family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald, and their two daughters, Rebecca Farmer (husband Chris) and Jennifer Thomas (husband Jasun). Mary was a proud “GG” to Madison and Jacob Farmer, and Masun and Oliver Thomas. Her grandkids were her joy and she always said it was the best part of life, being a Gg.
Mary had a deep love for her dogs and enjoyed camping, hiking, and exploring the beauty of the Colorado Mountains. She was also known for her amazing baking and her passion for decorating her home for the holidays. Her yard and garden were a sanctuary where she found peace and creativity.
In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind many other treasured relatives and friends.
Mary had an unwavering faith in God and was loved by many and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
